TikTok is the fastest growing video sharing app in the world. And now there’s a big UI update coming to this app that is surprisingly similar to Instagram.
Instagram is redesigning user profiles with profile photos and follow-up content being moved to the left.
New York Times reporter Taylor Lorenz first shared this redesign on Twitter and then confirmed it by a TikTok spokesperson speaking to technology site The Verge.

The spokesperson said, “We are always looking for ways to improve the users’ experience of TikTok. we are currently testing profile designs to provide a better user experience.”
TikTok has almost completely copied the Instagram user interface and is most often found on social networks. They ‘borrow‘ ideas and features of their opposing apps, and Instagram itself is second to none, in that case, they took the stories feature from Snapchat.
TikTok was the most downloaded app after the WhatsApp last year and it beat Facebook and Instagram.
That’s why Facebook considers TikTok a risk in the future, and Instagram is experiencing a video editing tool called Reels that leverages the best TikTok features. This includes speed adjustment and audio streaming of other videos.
If TikTok roll out this design update, than all social media platform will look the same.
