Remember the AirPower charging mat that Apple announced back in 2017? The company postponed the device and said this was a prototype but we will consider it in the future.
The device was able to charge Apple products simultaneously including an iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods.
It was only a charging pad and works only on Apple wireless devices. Now that the company has introduced more and more wireless devices, they have again continued the development of the AirPower charging mat.
Jon Prosser, founder of Page Tech report on his Twitter account that the company has plans to launch this device in the future.
AirPower isn’t dead 👀
The project is back on, internally. No guarantee that they’ll finalize and release it, but they haven’t given up yet and they’re trying to re-engineer the coils to displace heat more effectively. Prototyping is underway.

As of now, this is just a rumor but we’re hoping that the device will launch later this year. Maybe the company announces this in their upcoming iPhone 9 event.
