Colorado: The smart name is being heard in everything and now experts have made smart cement. In this way, the cement making and construction industry can be made environmentally friendly.

The University of Colorado, Professor Will Srober and colleagues have used a variety of bacteria ‘scientific cooks‘ to make bricks of various shapes.

Bacteria were added to sand, gelatin, and some nutrients first. Then, as soon as the formula was given heat and sunlight, the bacteria made some layers of calcium carbonate over the sand particles. At the next step, the gelatin becomes solid as the whole spice cools.

The brick is then hardened by further drying, which takes a few hours. The material being made is similar to that of concrete in which it is reinforced by mixing water in sand, gravel, and cement.

But the mixture is physically a bit weak, like a weak brick without sand and gravel without cement. But one of the benefits of this process is that the bacterial cement begins to grow automatically after it is completely dry.

Professor Will says that this process will help to make cement using less energy. The Eco-friendly cement works under the process of compilation (photosynthesis). This process will make the cement suitable for the environment as it is the second-largest industry in the world where most groundwater resources are used.
