The Lexus Autopilot car will have a level 2 autopilot system.

In a press conference, Lexus president Koji Sato said that the Lexus Autopilot car will be hands-off but not eyes-off. It means that drivers will have to keep their eyes wide-open and stray alert. However, they can take their hands off the steering wheel. This is a kind of semi-autonomous car in real because you do not have an entire autopilot system in the car.

This level 2 autonomous car comes with a special feature named “Highway Teammate”. This feature will keep updating the vehicle with the traffic rules and other necessary information required for its autopilot mood. These traffic rules will be based on the county in which the vehicle is present.

Many automotive companies have tried their luck in making autonomous cars. Famous brands like Audi, have produced autonomous cars. However, the rate of success in making a large sale is been a difficult task for all the famous brands.

One major brand is Tesla Motors that has a stronghold in this field. CEO Tesla Motors, Elon Musk is indulged in this kind of project for a long time and has made good achievements. The new Lexus Autopilot car will compete with the only successful Tesla autonomous cars.

There is something more for the auto-lover. BMW and Mercedes have also set the targets to bring the best autonomous cars into the market by the end of this year. The growing competition among the world-class automakers in achieving excellence in autopilot cars will transform the auto industry.

Lexus Autopilot cars are making news; it seems Toyota is very committed to bringing the best for their users and auto lovers. A new era of autopilot cars is soon to begin.
