On 11 February “The Wall Street Journal”, bring up the news in which, the United States pointed out Huawei for using illegal means to access mobile networks around the world.

This is not the first time such news has come out from the United States. In 2019, the US has banned the company due to similar concerns. The US government has consistently suspected Huawei over security issues. Once again, they say, the Chinese mobile company is a security threat for the region and all the necessary actions need to be taken.

United States officials claim that Huawei has the capability to secretly access mobile network around the world. Moreover, the Chinese tech giant has earned this ability since a decade ago.US officials claim that Huawei used, the legal interception provided only for the law enforcement agencies, to get access to different mobile networks around the world.

US Official`s Allegations

Advisor to national security Robert O`Brien says, “We have evidence that Huawei has the secret ability to access sensitive and personal information in the systems it manages and sells around the world”. This allegation is very critical among all the allegations made so far on Huawei by US officials.

Having access to personal and security information is one thing and misusing it is another thing, a more serious one. If US officials have proof to substantiate these allegations, things may go very wrong for the Chinese tech giant. However, so far, there is no evidence provided about the countries suffered by this security breach.

Huawei Officials Response

In response to these allegations, Huawei has recorded its stance. The Huawei officials have released their statement they said, “We categorically reject these latest allegations. Again, baseless accusations are repeated without providing any kind of concrete evidence”.

Furthermore, Huawei officials said, the company has very strict rules pertaining to legal interception points, no official is allowed to access these doors.

Washington continues to pressure British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to completely unilateral Huawei.

But according to AFP, a top British official had indicated to give Huawei a green light last week, while the Financial Times reported yesterday that Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to approve Huawei’s limited role.

According to the reports, British ministers are considering ways to limit Huawei’s market share in the project. Huawei is believed to be allowing Britain to operate non-critical elements of 5G networks such as antennas and base stations.

The US had stopped Huawei from introducing 5G networks on its territory and raised security concerns over the Chinese government controlling the company, Which Huawei constantly denied.

The US government believes that the Huawei infrastructure will provide opportunities for the Chinese government to carry out espionage and destruction and that is why the use of Huawei telecom equipment has been banned in the US since 2012.

Australia and New Zealand have also banned the supply of Huawei’s 5G mobile network devices.

The United States also emphasized Britain but also threatened that if it signed a deal with Huawei, the sharing of intelligence between the two countries could be limited.

British officials have pointed out that unlike the United States, the UK has been using Huawei technology for the past 15 years.UK security agencies believe they have been able to control the risk so far and are able to do so in relation to the 5G network.
