<p>The <strong>lawsuit</strong> began with tagging and identifying people by name on <strong>Facebook</strong>, which is still controversial in many <strong>European countries</strong>.</p>
<p>Following the advent of the <strong>technology</strong> on the social media platform, citizens of the <strong>US state of Illinois</strong> filed a lawsuit on Facebook because it <strong>violated</strong> some of the privacy laws.</p>
<p>The case has been ongoing since <strong>2015</strong>, with the <strong>final result</strong> now coming out. Illinois citizens say in the <strong>petition</strong> that only the face can be <strong>identified</strong> by the police, otherwise, no one else has the right.</p>
<p>The case was reopened in 2018, and the <strong>US Supreme Cour</strong>t this month rejected the appeal for a review by Facebook.</p>

<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-5354" src="https://techmoog.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/facebook-privacy.jpg" alt="facebook privacy" width="980" height="490" srcset="https://techmoog.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/facebook-privacy.jpg 980w, https://techmoog.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/facebook-privacy-300x150.jpg 300w, https://techmoog.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/facebook-privacy-768x384.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 980px) 100vw, 980px" /></p>
<p>The <strong>lawsuit</strong> also includes a thousand state engineers who were or are still involved in several <strong>secret projects</strong>.</p>
<p>The <strong>US court</strong> also asked Facebook the interesting question of explaining the practical <strong>benefits</strong> of a face recognition option that <strong>Facebook</strong> could not satisfy the court.</p>
<p>Some states of US police departments use <strong>body cameras</strong>, but in some US cities, this practice is also <strong>illegal</strong> because of local laws.</p>
<p>Facebook rolled out a new feature in this regard named &#8220;<strong>Tag System</strong>&#8220;, where the app will automatically recognize your face and gives you a <strong>notification</strong> to tag yourself in the post.</p>
<p>This option allows users to choose <strong>themselves</strong>. Currently, this feature is only limited to your <strong>friend&#8217;s list or suggestions.</strong></p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-5351" src="https://techmoog.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/face-recognition-facebook.jpg" alt="face recognition facebook" width="780" height="408" srcset="https://techmoog.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/face-recognition-facebook.jpg 780w, https://techmoog.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/face-recognition-facebook-300x157.jpg 300w, https://techmoog.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/face-recognition-facebook-768x402.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 780px) 100vw, 780px" /></p>
<p>Facebook has been facing some real allegations previously. <strong>The tech giant</strong> company is under heavy review for <strong>privacy-related</strong> matters.</p>
<p>Now Facebook will pay <strong>$550 million</strong> to resolve the dispute for <strong>facial recognition</strong>.</p>
