Video: The Motorola Razr teardown video shows the best hinge mechanism we have seen so far on any foldable smartphone.
Its battle of the flip smartphone and more and more manufacturers are taking a part in this. Hinges are an important factor in any foldable device. This piece of tech is around us for quite some time. The recent teardown video from JerryRigEverythings shows both the hinge design of Motorolla Razr and Galaxy Z Flip Foldable.
The Motorola and Z flip approach to the hinge mechanism is way more different. In the video, we can see a sticky goop or gel over the important components of the phone. This helps the phone makes dust and water-resistant. The Motorola Solution for the hinge is far more simple if compared to Samsung.
As jerry quoted himself, “Samsung is over here doing rocket science and Motorola just pops a pin in there like a door.”
Both phones did a great job to keep the foldable mechanism even more realistic. But the Razr’s hinge failed the durability test. It only lasted for 27,000 turns while the advertisement showed 200,000 Folds. Samsung Galaxy Fold performed the same test and lasted for 120,000 Folds.
