Facebook-owned application, Instagram decided to remove the IGTV button. The developers have decided to remove this feature, through the next software update.
The developers state that very few people are clicking the IGTV icon, which is located at the top right corner of the app. IGTV button was introduced back in 2018. The official plan of this feature was to build a video streaming like environment on Instagram.
The feature, however, only shows vertical video display at the start. Many users complained about this feature because the content was originally designed for landscape screens. It doesn’t capture the surroundings and was backlashed many times.

In May 2019, this problem got fixed, and the developers rolled out a new update for landscape mode, along with a vertical one. Because of this update, there were also fewer Instagram downloads as compared to the previous year. Instagram’s biggest competition, TikTok has taken the spot of the most downloaded application of 2019.
Although the IGTV button feature is not going anytime soon. The users can still watch this feature, through a different application. The growth rate of TikTok has been growing at a massive rate, and many application developers are using different techniques to engage with their users.
Instagram also struggles to attract new creators and has already lost thousands of existent users in 2019.
